Due to circumstances, no major fund raising activities were held. On a small scale, Teun donated the proceeds of some sales to the KASS.

The Bi-Annual fundraiser and photo auction of Teun's prints was held on September 12th in New York. It was co hosted by the New York and Buenos Airos based organization Interrupcion*. Gallery Proposition at 559 W 22nd St was so kind to donate its space for the evening. Thanks to the energetic Helena Tubis from Interrupcion*, we were able to raise 6.000 USD for the Kalangba School...

Michele Wisneki, graduate student at Library Science at New York University initiated a Book Drive to collect books for the Kalangba school! Books were send to Teun's office in New York, from where they where shipped an bought to Sierra Leone. Slowly, the empty shelves of library of the school are filling up again...

October 28th, Author Sebastian Junger hosted a photo auction of work by Teun Voeten at the "In Camera Gallery", 511 West 25th street, New York.The event was sponsored by Vanity Fair Magazine that published Junger and Voeten's award winning reportages about Sierra Leone and Liberia. The Silent Auction was a huge succes. The total proceedings of 9.500 USD went to a Doctors without Borders Clinic in Monrovia, Liberia and of course the Kalangba school in Sierra Leone. Tami McLaughlin, an alumni of CalArts/CSSSA where Teun was visiting artist last summer, organized a fund-raising at her school, the Merced Highschool, in Merced, California. Teun talked in classes at school, and Saturday evening January 25th, he was guestspeaker at a fund raising diner dinner. There was also an exhibition and a photo auction. Total revenue from the event was more as 2000 USD, which was directly send from Merced HS to the Kalangba school!

“How de Body ”, Teun’s book about Sierra Leone, was published in the USA. Many fund-raising activities were planned.

Student Mila Ghorokovich organized a fundraising event at the Valhalla Middle School in upstate New York. The school collected hundreds of notebooks, pens and pencils which were safely brought to Kalangba.

Huize Karibu (Karibu Community) in the Belgian Town of Leuven donated the proceeds of their annual plant sale to the KASS.

Teun sold photos of Sierra Leone at his exhibitions in New York. Proceeds went straight to Kalangba.

Hilde Demoor organized a Sierra Leone photo exhibition and
auction at the Annual Cultural Fair in the Belgian town of
Wichelen.
Special designed pencils were also sold at this event.

Camille Noël from Saint Remacle College organized a fundraising event at her school in the Belgian town of Stavelot.

Belgium’s daily Newspaper “De Morgen” sponsored the production of a special campaign newsletter, designed by well known Brussels artist Rudi Latoir. The newsletter was sold at many fundarising events.

Doctors without Borders Belgium published an article in their youth magazine “Saka Saka” in which students were asked to get involved in the campaign for the Kalangba Agricultural Secundary School. Many students responded.
