Tunnelmensen

By Teun Voeten

In the winter of 1994 and summer of 1995, Voeten picked up hisanthropological roots and studied an underground community of homelesspeople in a railroad tunnel in Manhattan.

For months, he lived, worked an slept among the so called “ tunnel people”. Voeten's research resulted in his first headline, 'Tunnelmensen', a vivid and honest account of a group of people trying to survive and maintain their dignity in very dire circumstances.
